Second Floor RP Area

Welcome to the Second Floor of Desolate Ruins! Looks like you progressed some, but dare you continue?

Caleb returned to the ruins, having conquered the rattatta of the first section. He wanted to go deeper, and maybe find something stronger than a mouse. the brick around him was forboding, and cracked. It was like it was calling out to snatch him up in an everlasting slumber. This sinister feeling wouldn't leave him alone. He knew this place was haunted. And hauntings, mean ghosts. Ghosts were very frightening pokemon, with equally frightening abilities. Intimidation is a big factor in battle. He liked the thought of having a creepy pokemon. And who knows? They were known to be quite mischievous too... so they might even be fun! He began tapping at the walls.

From out of the wall, one of the bricks fell. But surprisingly, it wasn't a brick at all, but a sandshrew! Its' husky sand-like shell shuffled a bit, before revealing the creature. It flashed its' sharp claws, which could easily dig through rock. It was angry. Caleb stepped back, and pointed his finger at it.

"Belle, let's try and catch this one!"

The raltz leapt up and down with joy. It seemed to like fighting like this. Perhaps it was because Caleb liked it, and it found joy through his emotion? Whatever the case, he smiled as she tackled the sandshrew. It curled up, blocking the assault. As raltz bounced off, it quickly slashed at it, cutting through its' helmet-like crest. This kind of pain was a bit new to the Raltz, which fell back, holding its' head in pain. But what happened next shocked even Caleb. Raltz got angry. Angry angry. It continually started tackling the sandshrew, over and over. Even though it was curled up, it was taking a toll as the pokemon threw itself against it repeatedly. Caleb had to stop this.

He threw his pokeball at the sandshrew as it was on its' last legs, sucking it into the orb. It barely even wiggled in retaliation. His pokemon sat there, crying. Any further might be a bad idea. He picked up his Raltz, and carried her out with a new pokemon in tow.

"Let's stay away from this place for a while. But you did good, Belle."

Sam emerges from the doorway leading down to level 1 with his Larvitar in tow. Their encounter with the Rattata in the previous level had been obnoxious but had done little to deter them from continuing to explore the ruins and the Pokemon that resided there.

"C'mon Baby, there're mysteries to unlock here!"

They'd crossed the dusky room, carefully inspecting each of the engraved stones that lie there, when a strange sound caught both Sam and Baby's attention, prompting them to turn around at once.
(forgot the Shiny number again)

Before them was a Sandshrew which had just tunneled out of one of the walls and was now scratching about in a small pile of dust and refuse.

"Go get 'im Baby!"

"Laaaaaaar!"

The Sandshrew turned around just in time to see a set of white teeth clamping down on its muzzle. Crying in pain it flailed about with the Larvitar clinging on as well as she could.

"Alright that's enough."

Baby released her bite and, almost instantly, the Sandshrew used defense curl, rolling itself into a compact ball too round for Baby to get a good grip with her teeth.

"Damn! alright Baby, leer at it!"

Sam's Larvitar bared her teeth at the balled up Sandshrew in her strange grimace.

"Okay, hold it there."

A few moments passed and the Sandsgrew still didn't unfurl.

Then a few more, and it still didn't let down its guard.

After a few more minutes Baby started complaining, after all, holding the same expression for so long was surely tiring.

"Hang in there Baby!"
"...trrrrrrrr..." she responded with her teeth clenched.

Finally, after waiting for a a good while longer, Sandshrew finally unrolled to check its surroundings and at that moment it saw Baby's leer. Startled, it unfolded completely and Sam took his opportunity.

"Now Baby!"

Baby snapped her teeth onto the Sandshrew's muzzle 3 times in quick succession. Her sudden and ruthless attack sent the poor Sandshrew reeling backwards, too overwhelmed to fight back. Baby then proceeded to place her foot on top of the defeated Sandshrew and pose triumphantly.

"Larvitaaaaaar!"
"I see that Shroomish rubbed off on you a bit, huh girl? Well don't get too cocky, we still have much more exploring to do."

The noises Khia heard downstairs were growing in volume. She was very tempted to release one of her Pokemon for company... but really didn't want to draw attention to herself before she got to the 3rd floor. Quickly and quietly, she snuck over to the stairs and made her way slowly to the 3rd floor, praying nothing would pounce on her whilst she was climbing.

running through the ruins and entering the 2nd section, not long after he encounters a Rattata AH! Sam! The little Munchlax was summoned and looked happy to get out for once. Tackle! Sam surged forward while Rattata exclaimed a low "Rattata", upon striking the little monster sam utters a harsh Munch. The Rattata seemed to be wagging it's tail as it prepared to attack again, hitting Sam just before she moves forward to use tackle again. The Rattata seemed to be weakening, which Sam ignored and used tackle again ending the little fight they had. Lee continued through the ruins towards the entrance to the next section where he presumed would be more challenging pokemon to encounter. Returning Sam to her ball before moving.

Time for a good test of our strength i think.

Tao wandered into the ruins, Shroomish following him with it's inexistant chin up in the air. The odd pair certainly stood out in the large room filled with tombstones, but Tao just smiled calmly.
He saw glimpses of ghost pokémon float around, but none of them seemed to be very aggressive towards them so far. Nor did they seem like that big of a threat. One pair of eyes, lurking from the shadows deemed otherwise though.
Shroomish was the first to notice, and jumped forward, puffing out it's imaginary chest. The creature in the dark peeped slightly, but didn't back down as it blitzed out of the shadows, attacking Shroomish quickly as it passed by.

It seemed to be a baby rattata, confident in it's speed. But the attack on Shroomish didn't seem to have done much, as it tried to bite without it's fangs having truly grown yet.
Shroomish seemed to mockingly laugh at the Rattata, as it frowned and charged again, trying to perform another gnaw at the mushroom, only to be bounced off easily. Shroomish walked up to the Rattata as it laid on the ground, whimpering at it's own weakness.
Towering above it, Shroomish looked down on the rattata. "Shroom, shroomish shroom...", he said.
Awe twinkled in the Rattata's eyes and he nodded. "ratta", he said before he charged at Tao, who simply stood baffled a tthe scenery while rattata jumped and bumped it's head against one of the pokéballs, capturing itself.

"wait what?", Tao said, looking confuddled at the ball. Shroomish nudged against his head and shook his head, as if to say "It's okay, I got this."
Tao just looked down and shrugged.
"Okay, if you say so, little man. Your responsibility. Let's continue up."

Bolt ascended from the stairs, Tao and Shroom following suit soon there after.
It was there that they were greeted by a sandshrew, mindlessly staring at the floating magnet pokémon like it was trying to figure out how in the world that happened. Magnemites weren't ghosts.
Tao quickly spotted Bolt's out of character unnerved shaking at the sight of the ground pokémon.
"Don't worry Bolt, Sandshrew don't really learn any ground moves!... but still..."
"Get 'm, lil' guy.", he said to shroom, who jumped to attention.

Bolt retreated back to behind Tao as Shroom instantly fired an absorb on the sandshrew. The grass type attack had way more of an impact than other times, almost immediately sucking the ground pokémon dry. It tried to counter with a scratch, tearing at Shroom's body, but the wounds healed quickly as another absorb was launched. The sandshrew laid defeated on the ground.

The trio stepped over the defeated mouse pokémon and continued to wander the floor, untill Tao finally spotted one of those infamous ghosts. A gastly appeared, hauntingly smiling at the passerbies. Tao smiled back, and gestured Shroomish to stand down as he moved Bolt forward.
"Bolt, use metal sound!", He said smiling. He wanted to catch this one, it seemed interesting.
Bolt screeched it's metal parts together, clearly affecting the Gastly as it moved in closer to try an unnerve the steel type with a Lick. It wasn't very effective, however.
The wet tongue hit the steel body, and Bolt clearly didn't look amused. It launched a thundershock at the Gas pokémon, whoes special defenses were severely lowered. The shock hit it hard, utilizing the contact it's tongue made, leaving it electrified and falling to the ground from it's levitation.
Tao smiled as he grabbed an empty pokéball and launched it at the Gastly.
The ball caught the gastly before it reached the ground, effectively enclosing around it as Tao waited for it to be caught. It didn't take long before the Pokéball stopped shaking and confirmed Tao's hopes.
"YES!, nice one Bolt!", Tao said as he patted the magnemite on the head and grabbed the pokéball. "This will be an excellent addition to the team eventually."

"We should probably get him healed up...", Tao said, frowning.
They made their way to the stairs again, stepping over the Sandshrew's unconcious body, when they heard a beep. Another wild sandshrew stood in front of the staircase, blocking their path.
Tao laughed and gestured Shroom to do it's thing. Much like the battle from before, the sandshrew quickly ended up on the floor and Shroomish even healthier than he already was.
They made their way back in to town after this short training session.
