On his return trip from Auriga Sam wore a grin just as goofy as when he was traveling toward it. He strolled casually, this time with a light backpack slung over his shoulder, and, just like the time before, paused when he heard something rustle in the nearby grass.
Okay!he thought, Lets try this again!

Shiny: 86

A Purrloin strolled out of the grass just as casually as Sam himself and, upon catching him in it's sights, its eyes seemed to glimmer faintly with the greed for which they were so well known. Sam responded quickly.

"Go Hades!"

The Spiritomb emerged from it's Pokeball and cackled tauntingly at the Purrloin which hissed in response. The feline Pokemon rushed at Hades and swiped at him with it's claws. Spiritomb merely chuckled as the claws passed through it harmlessly. Alarmed, the Purrloin attempted to make a dash for it, but both Sam and Hades reacted too quickly for it.

"Hades use Pursuit!"

The Spiritomb seemed a blur all of a sudden and in another moment it was directly blocking the Purrloin's path, causing the enemy Pokemon to slam hard into the Spiritomb's hard stone. The Purrloin staggered back and Sam and Hades moved into the attack again.

"Alright Hades, now use confuse ray!"

Hades laughed the syllables of its name as a ball of white light drifted from its mouth and directly into the stunned Purrloin's head. Having been stunned already the Purrloin quickly succumbed to the dizzying effects of the attack and stumbled about for a few moments as it tried desperately to attack the Spiritomb. It successfully managed a growl but rather than facing Hades, it ended up growling at Sam.

"Okay...
Uh... Use shadow sneak now Hades..."

The Spiritomb cackled once more and stretched out its shadow like a long, black tendril and quickly grabbed hold of the Purrloin's feet. In but a moment the Purrloin's face was mushed against the dirt and it was struggling to get back up. Sam looked at the Pokemon with pursed lips and, thoughtfully, drew a Pokeball out of his pocket.

"Might as well," he muttered as he tossed the ball at the defeated feline into which it was quickly engulfed.
Ping.
He wasn't sure why he'd thrown the ball.
Ping.
It just seemed like he ought to.
Ping.
And now it would seem he'd have a new comrade.

"I think I'll call you...
Arsène ..." he whispered to the Purrloin in its new ball as he drew Hades back into his own.
